The thirty fourth Annual San Antonio Worldwide Girls’s Day March & Rally will happen this Sunday, in response to organizing group the Mujeres Marcharan Coalition.
Scheduled for two p.m., the occasion will start at downtown’s Milam Park, 500 W. Commerce St., with audio system advocating for justice and equality.
“Peace via liberation, liberation via wrestle, from Palestine to Mexico, all of the partitions have gotten to go” is the theme of this yr’s march.
Whereas Girls’s Day gatherings have taken place in U.S. cities for many years, they’ve been more and more distinguished since The Girls’s March of Jan. 21, 2017, a world protest that passed off the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration as president. Prompted by the Republican president’s insurance policies and historical past of misogyny, it was one of many largest protest marches in U.S. historical past.
