The primary San Antonio Spurs sport I ever attended was in 1985. The Spurs had been internet hosting the Denver Nuggets at HemisFair Enviornment. On June 30, 1976, Moe changed Bob Bass as the pinnacle coach of the San Antonio Spurs, the 12 months of the NBA-ABA merger, successfully making him him the Spurs first NBA coach. He served as head coach for 4 seasons amassing a regular-season teaching file of 177-135 (.567) solely second to Gregg Popovich.

In a profession that spanned 4 many years, Moe grew to become some of the celebrated coaches in NBA historical past. His total NBA head teaching file, 628–529 (.543), is the nineteenth most in NBA historical past.

Doug Moe was the 2018 recipient of the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award.
