Legendary Texas blues-rock trio ZZ High is boogieing its approach again to the Majestic Theatre for back-to-back dates Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10. The stops are a part of a tour dubbed The Massive One.

Acknowledged by the Guinness Guide of World Data because the longest working lively group with no lineup adjustments, for 50 years the trio consisted of vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and bassist-vocalist Dusty Hill.

ZZ High rose to fame for iconic tracks equivalent to “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’” and “La Grange” together with “Legs,” “Tush” and different odes to sundry physique elements.

Fashioned in 1969, the band had uncharacteristic endurance, even because the daybreak of MTV cratered the careers of its classic-rock contemporaries.

Whereas video killed many a radio star, the alternative was the case for ZZ High. Hill’s and Gibbon’s signature hats, sun shades and lengthy beards — mixed with the tongue-in-cheek raunchiness of their lyrics and music movies — made them a lynchpin of ’80s popular culture and cemented their standing as rock gods for an entire new technology.

When Hill died in 2021, the band changed him with longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis, in keeping with the late bassist’s needs. Already an honorary band member, Francis even seems to be the half, sporting his personal lengthy, white beard, sun shades and wild mop of hair.

And let’s not neglect Francis’ signature 17-string bass, one of many many causes the band remains to be thought of one of many nation’s finest stay acts.

Although followers aren’t getting the unique lineup, actually that is the following neatest thing.
