Certainly one of San Antonio’s most-missed eating places is making a comeback — properly, kind of. Six years after Southtown’s Feast shuttered, proprietor Andrew Goodman is resurrecting the idea for a vacation takeover, November 5 via December 31 at Battalion, 604 S Alamo St.

“Ever since Feast closed, mates and patrons have been asking me — will you ever reopen Feast?” defined Goodman in a web-based assertion. “And the reply was principally ‘no’ till now. As an alternative of reopening Feast, I’ve determined to have a Feast takeover at Battalion.”

When Feast opened in September 2011, it was not like something San Antonio diners had ever seen. Goodman gave the area the ambiance and power of a Las Vegas membership, filling the flamboyant inside with clear chairs, bubble lighting, and vibrant up to date artwork.

Below the route of founding chef Stefan Bowers, the meals was simply as daring. Feast ceaselessly modified its small plates menu, which was divided into vibey columns like “hearty” and “chilled.” The King William restaurant took a panoptic strategy to worldwide delicacies, serving Goan shrimp curry, Moroccan-spiced goat, and Tunisian falafel.

A lot has modified within the San Antonio culinary scene since Feast went darkish in December 2019. Carpenter Carpenter Hospitality took over the constructing in 2021 to open expensive seafood spot Up Scale, which shuttered in 2024 to make approach for a bigger model of the group’s Little Em’s Oyster Bar.

In 2021, the prolific enterprise partnership between Bowers and Goodman dissolved, with Goodman retaining Battalion and Bowers taking over possession of Playland whereas persevering with to function the chief chef on the St. Anthony Lodge’s Rebelle. The latter two have since shuttered, with Playland folding in 2022 and Rebelle shuttering in January.

It’s unclear which of Feast’s dishes will likely be revived for the pop-up, however the vacation stint is certain to be boozy. The restaurant was identified for its cocktails and wine checklist as a lot as its delicacies.

“I’m prepared to supply the drinks, the plates, and the ambiance,” wrote Goodman. “All I would like is so that you can present up and be a part of within the enjoyable that’s Feast!”
