San Antonio Botanical Backyard brings on former Periphery chef to move culinary packages

The San Antonio Botanical Backyard has named Mark Weaver, the well-regarded chef behind defunct Monte Vista eating spot Periphery, as its new director of culinary packages.

Weaver has 20 years of hospitality-industry expertise, holding each a level in hospitality administration from Texas Tech College and one other in culinary arts from Le Cordon Bleu. Along with founding new American restaurant Periphery, he served as chef de delicacies at Tre Trattoria underneath Jason Dady.

Extra not too long ago, Weaver has labored as a culinary arts instructor for Northside ISD and as a dual-credit adjunct teacher for St. Phillips Faculty.

In his new function on the Botanical Backyard, Weaver will broaden the establishment’s culinary programming, comparable to its Backyard-to-Desk Culinary Expertise and Immersive Backyard Culinary Class, based on officers with the group.

Collaborating with Chef Erika Perales, Weaver additionally will craft new menus and seasonal choices that shine a highlight on the backyard’s bounty.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, Weaver will host his first public occasion in his new function. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the chef will lead a cooking demonstration whereas serving up meals, dialog and perception on his plan for expanded culinary programming.
