One of many nation’s buzziest doughnut chains has quietly opened a second San Antonio store — and, no, it’s not Voodoo. Indiana-based Parlor Doughnuts, identified for its flaky cronut-like treats, debuted at 3107 TPC Pkwy in mid-August.

First issues first. Parlor doesn’t declare to fry up cronuts, the doughnut-croissant hybrid created by famed French pastry chef Dominique Ansel. As an alternative, it calls its pastries a “proprietary product with layers of buttery dough fried to be crisp on the surface and lightweight/fluffy on the within.” All of that looks like a long-winded strategy to describe a cronut, even when the particular lamination processes diverge.

Nonetheless, Parlor’s lighter tackle the fried candy has led to a meteoric nationwide rise. After serving to launch artisanal roaster Correct Espresso in 2015, founder Darrick Hayden turned obsessive about doughnuts whereas touring with son Noah’s band, Mission Six. In partnership with good friend Josh Tudela, he opened the primary Parlor in Evansville, Indiana, in 2019.

The idea was impressed by World Struggle I Doughnut Lassies, volunteers who offered consolation to front-line troopers. The branding quickly took on an Americana theme. The title Parlor is supposed to evoke the gracious hospitality of yesteryear.

San Antonio snagged its first Parlor, positioned within the Boardwalk purchasing middle at 23535 I-10, #2102, in December 2024, introducing the world to its distinctive model. Though rooted in nostalgia, the flavors are up to date. Visitors can select from maple bacon, cookies ‘n’ cream, churro, and raspberry pistachio treats.

The store can be conscious of dietary restrictions, making keto and vegan doughnuts. Parlor additionally makes treats for pups and savory breakfast dishes like tacos, sandwiches, and toasts.

The second Parlor Doughnut store is now open seven days every week. Hours are Monday by Friday, 6 am-6 pm; Saturday, 7 am-6 pm; and Sunday, 8 am-5 pm.
