This metropolis election cycle, the San Antonio Report hosted 9 debates — journalistically rigorous interrogations of the candidates’ backgrounds, {qualifications} and imaginative and prescient for our metropolis in a few of the most essential races on the poll.
Our nonprofit newsroom teamed up for 2 debates with the Larger San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, one forward of the primary spherical of voting, on April 8, with eight of the main candidates for mayor on the Carver Group Cultural Heart, then a runoff debate between Gina Ortiz Jones and Rolando Pablos on Could 19 at Steady Corridor.
Within the Metropolis Council races, we held debates in aggressive races in District 4, 6, 8 and 9 at Port San Antonio and Elevate Occasions, then runoff debates in District 1, co-hosted by Centro San Antonio, plus Districts 6 and eight at Texas Public Radio’s downtown studio.
