
Midfielder returns for second stint with SAFC
SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 20, 2024) – San Antonio FC has signed midfielder Nicky Hernandez, pending league and federation approval. Per workforce coverage, phrases of the deal weren’t disclosed.
“We’re blissful to welcome Nicky Hernandez again to San Antonio,” stated SAFC Sporting Director Marco Ferruzzi. “Nicky was a key a part of our workforce throughout our 2022 championship season, and he has continued to develop his recreation and convey success to the golf equipment he’s been part of. He’s a dynamic field to field midfielder who will assist set the tone for our squad.”
Hernandez returns to San Antonio after becoming a member of the workforce on mortgage from FC Dallas in 2022. In the course of the membership’s title-winning season, the midfielder posted two objectives and 7 assists in 24 competitions. He went on to signal with New Mexico United in 2023, scoring six objectives and recording three assists in 2,226 minutes over the course of two seasons.
Previous to becoming a member of SAFC, Hernandez spent two seasons with FC Dallas affiliate North Texas SC, the place he contributed six objectives in 32 matches performed. The Dallas native performed collegiately at SMU, showing in 52 matches from 2017-19. Whereas with the Mustangs, he helped the workforce to an American Athletic Convention Championship in 2019.
SAFC will open the 2025 USL Championship common season towards Monterey Bay F.C. on Saturday, March 8. The tenth anniversary season offered by Toyota.
