Remarkably expert printmaker, multimedia artist and scientist Margaret Craig has been named The San Antonio Artwork League + Museum’s Artist of the 12 months, and her exhibition The Artwork and Science of Margaret Craig is at present on view within the group’s King William area.
Craig ‘s work speaks to the fragile steadiness of eco-structures which might be subjected to countless cycles of post-consumer waste. Though delicate and seemingly fragile, her work each mimics and bears the scars of this fixed interplay in an actual and profound manner.
“My work is rooted within the symbiotic eco-structure all of us precariously reside in and entails an elaborate, presumably extreme, course of that (re)cycles the unique post-consumer paper and plastic via a number of artwork kinds and media, together with acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, marbling, papermaking and sculpture,” Craig stated in an announcement.
Her imagery, although derived from nature, contains the waste of business merchandise, revealing the traces of branding embedded far past logic and purpose.
The exhibition closes Nov. 2.
