Gov. Greg Abbott in a letter despatched Tuesday stated he’s launching a sweeping investigation into the federal H-1B visa program “in gentle of current studies of abuse.”

Abbott directed all public state faculties and universities together with all state companies headed by a gubernatorial appointee to freeze H-1B visa purposes till Might 2027.

That visa program, which permits U.S. employers to rent expert international nationals when native labor markets can’t meet particular ability wants, has emerged as a right-wing goal.
