The Hawks (of holy rosary), HoneyBunny
The Hawks have been plying their San Antonio garage-pop for an excellent minute now, and have toured with Dr. Canine, if that offers any indication of what to anticipate. It is a band that focuses on rootsy indie-rock with a wild streak and a definite Alamo Metropolis taste. HoneyBunny, in the meantime, is a more recent group on the rise, having simply performed on the regionally famend Wizard Rodeo. The Final Bandoleros
Tex-Mex rockers the Final Bandoleros made mainstream headway because of excursions with Sting and a serious label push from Warner Music Nashville. The SA-originated group, based by Diego and Emilio Navaira — sons of late Tejano legend Emilio Navaira — and their good friend Jerry Fuentes are again collectively after a hiatus and sharing their South Texas-based sound with the broader world. $10, 8:30 p.m., Sam’s Burger Joint, 330 E. The Toadies, Jaret Ray Reddick
North Texas alt-rockers the Toadies are again for his or her annual December pilgrimage down I-35. Some 30 years after the band’s breakthrough “Possum Kingdom” pierced the faculty rock bubble into heavy MTV airplay, Todd Lewis’ vocals nonetheless lower via the guitar-forward sound and the band’s defining album Rubberneck continues to ring a bell with followers. $45-$118.50, 8 p.m., Aztec Theatre, 104 N. Chaparelle
Catchy male-female duo Chaparelle appears tailor–made for the resurgent curiosity in basic country-inspired sounds. The voices of Jesse Woods and Zella Day remind one among Lee Hazlewood’s finest collaborations and even the duets of George and Tammy. Day’s earlier incarnation was extra within the straight pop vein, together with major-label offers, duets with Lana Del Rey and thousands and thousands of social media followers. In the meantime, Woods has carved a formidable path on the planet of underground Americana and soundtracked just a few beer commercials. Kitten Mitten
Although new on the scene,San Antonio’s woman-fronted Kitten Mitten has turned heads with a shifting, emotive indie-rock sound.
