Haven for Hope faucets former Goodwill CEO to function interim president

San Antonio’s largest homeless shelter and assets hub has chosen a former Goodwill CEO and U.S. Military Main Normal as its interim president. 

Kevin Bergner, who has served on Haven for Hope’s board of administrators since November, will oversee the group because it launches a nationwide seek for its subsequent chief government officer. 

Kim Jefferies was CEO of Haven for Hope for over three years, however left the group on Friday. She’s leaving Texas to guide a brand new nonprofit with an identical mission. 

Bergner served because the president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of San Antonio since he took what was first a brief position as interim CEO in 2016. He retired in 2021 after rising Goodwill San Antonio’s working income from $74 million to over $90 million.

He’s served on quite a few boards in San Antonio, together with the San Antonio Meals Financial institution, the Basis Board for the Ecumental Heart for Counseling and the Trinity College Enterprise Advisory Council, and has been adjunct professor of ethics and professionalism at Trinity College, his alma mater.

He earned his Bachelor of Science from Trinity and his Grasp in Public Administration from Metropolis College of New York. 

“We’re excited Kevin has stepped as much as lead Haven throughout this transition,” stated Barbara Gentry, Haven for Hope’s Board Chair. “He brings huge expertise from the company and nonprofit sectors, and together with Haven’s management staff, operations will stay steady throughout this transition.”
