In 2024, readers took us all around the metropolis, inviting us out to locations like Laurel Hills, Alamo Ranch, Eastwood Village and Sundown Vista. Past the town limits, we visited Cibolo, Converse, Floresville and Von Ormy.

As we ring within the new yr, we glance again on the neighborhoods we received to know in 2024.

Residents of downtown and the encompassing space made a case for a revival in San Antonio’s city core.

Michelle Vasquez has been a been a trustworthy visitor at downtown bar Bohanan’s for eight years. “Vidal, Rupert and Giselle know make the perfect, ice-cold, skating martinis,” she wrote.

Amid the fast change in Daniel Paul Rivera’s River North neighborhood, the San Antonio Museum of Artwork has been a continuing.

“Attending the occasional lecture there rekindles my curiosity concerning the world and makes me really feel linked to my fellow San Antonians — or my concept of what they are often at their finest,” he wrote. “It is a metropolis with obvious potential, the achievement of which is much from assured.”

A brief stroll up the river takes you to the Creamery District. From the rooftop of her condominium constructing, Stacy Ybarra has a view of downtown and the Pearl — and a front-row seat to the revitalization of what was as soon as the location of the historic Borden Creamery.

“The revitalization of the Creamery District is not only about meals and leisure; it’s a narrative of group revitalization and historic preservation,” she wrote.

Stephanie Smith reminisces growing up on Randolph Air Force Base. She attended school from nursery through her senior year of high school at Randolph schools. Now she works on base as a clinical social worker.

In different components of San Antonio, residents had been rediscovering childhood neighborhoods, unearthing reminiscences and seeing their communities via contemporary eyes.

Toni Nelson has fond reminiscences of rising up in Willowwood Estates. She remembers taking part in with the neighborhood youngsters, a few of whom stay pals to today. Even when she moved out, Nelson continued to go to the her mom and the neighborhood, impressed by the pleasure residents had of their group.

When her mom died in November of 2023, lots of her neighbors attended her memorial service.

“As a result of this neighborhood and residential meant a lot to my mom, I made a decision to make my childhood house my retirement house,” Nelson wrote.
