As of late October, JetBlue will not supply direct flights from San Antonio Worldwide Airport to Boston and New York.

JetBlue is jetting out of San Antonio.

After three years serving the Alamo Metropolis, the New York-based low cost provider will finish nonstop flights from San Antonio Worldwide Airport to Boston and New York, the San Antonio Enterprise Journal reviews. The airline will finish the flights in late October.

JetBlue officers had been unavailable for remark to the Enterprise Journal. Nonetheless, San Antonio Director of Airports Jesus Saenz informed the publication the exodus is not as a result of East Coast flights’ poor efficiency.

“Their planes are full, and the routes to Boston and New York are performing nicely, which supplies me nice confidence different airways will fill the void in brief order,” Saenz mentioned.

JetBlue’s departure from San Antonio Worldwide comes because the provider fights to maintain American Airways from including the airport’s first nonstop flight to Washington. D.C. — a route opened up by passage of a federal invoice lobbied for by native and state leaders.

In filings with the U.S. Transportation Division, JetBlue argued that San Antonio should not get one of many 5 new slots opened up at Washington’s Reagan Nationwide airport as a result of Austin, which is in driving distance, already has direct flights.

JetBlue needs to assert a kind of new Reagan Nationwide openings so it might probably safe a direct flight between D.C. and San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Categorical-Information reported final week.
