Whereas many politicos cooled their rhetoric after the assassination try on former President Donald Trump over the weekend, Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Roy continued to spit hearth.

Roy, a verbal bomb-thrower representing San Antonio’s northern suburbs, fired off a tweet on Sunday blaming “woke DEI quotas” for a “failure to guard” the previous president at his Pennsylvania rally. DEI, in fact, is brief for “Variety, Fairness, and Inclusion,” which has emerged as a GOP bogeyman throughout current election cycles.

It is clearly a stretch to argue that the presence of girls and other people of coloration within the Secret Service performed any position in its potential or incapacity to guard Trump on the rally, and Roy supplied nothing in the way in which of proof to again up his declare.

Each Roy’s and Abbott’s feedback stand in stark distinction to different elected officers on each side of the aisle who referred to as for unity and denounced political violence in sturdy phrases.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, a political unbiased, referred to as the assault on Trump a “devastating day for America,” whereas U.S. Congressman Greg Casar, a Democrat who represents the town facilities of San Antonio and Austin, reiterated President Joe Biden’s condemnation of political violence.

U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, condemned the actions of the would-be murderer and, in distinction to Roy, recommended the Secret Service’s fast response to the capturing.
