Tejano singer and longtime tv music present host Johnny Canales has died. He was 77.
Canales’ household confirmed his demise in a press release posted Thursday, June 13, on the Johnny and Nora Canales Present Fb web page. The publish didn’t present a reason behind demise.
“He was greater than only a beloved husband, father, TV host, musician, and entertainer; he was a beacon of hope and pleasure for numerous folks,” the assertion says. “His infectious charisma and dedication to selling Latino music and tradition left a big mark on the world.”
Canales, who was born in Mexico, was recognized by the catchphrase “Take it away” as he hosted an eponymous televised music present in Corpus Christi within the Nineteen Eighties and Nineties.
He’s credited with launching the profession of Tejano famous person Selena on the present and was portrayed by actor Luis Bordonada within the Netflix seriesSelena: The Sequence.
Canales is credited with serving to to launch the late Selena Quintanilla’s profession.

Corpus Christi musician and music producer Dusty Oliveira informed KXII-TV that as a toddler he watched and was impressed by Canales’ present.
