The San Antonio Information Guild introduced Friday afternoon that staffers on the Hearst-owned Specific-Information and MySA voted 36-31 in opposition to unionizing as a part of the Media Guild of the West.
Guild officers advised the Present in February that 68% of union-eligible employees at each publications signed authorization playing cards to be represented by the Guild. In a Friday social media publish, organizers blamed the failed vote on “sturdy union-busting ways from Hearst.”
Specific-Information Writer Mark Medici was unavailable for remark for the Present’s article.

When the Present requested the Guild for particulars on the alleged union-busting ways, officers declined to elaborate. Even so, Guild officers reiterated allegations beforehand reported by the Present that Medici warned personnel that longtime workers may lose protection beneath Hearst’s profit plans.
“Whereas the end result was not what we hoped for, our resolve stays unshaken,” the Guild wrote in an announcement. “We stand sturdy and dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of our colleagues. Collectively, we’ll proceed to attempt for a brighter future for journalism and the communities we serve.”
Guild members added that they’d meet as a gaggle to resolve their subsequent steps.
