Research: Texas amongst worst states for office discrimination | San Antonio

Texas has the nation’s Twelfth-highest price of office discrimination, in line with a regulation agency’s latest evaluation of Equal Employment Alternative Fee knowledge.    

California-based employment regulation agency Eldessouky Legislation combed by way of the EEOC’s most up-to-date dataset, which covers the overall variety of office discrimination fees filed in 2021. Researchers then tabulated states’ discrimination charges by measuring their complete variety of fees towards their respective populations. 

Texas, it seems, was within the high quartile with a price of 55 fees filed per 100,000 individuals.  Based on the examine, the 5 commonest kinds of office discrimination confronted in Texas are:  

Retaliation – 3,768 fees filed in 2021
Incapacity – 2,385 fees filed in 2021
Racial – 2,068 fees filed in 2021
Sexual – 1,991 fees filed in 2021
Age – 1,454 fees filed in 2021

Retaliation is not only a drawback within the Lone Star State. It is the commonest type of discrimination throughout all 50 states, in line with the report.

Retaliation occurs when a supervisor takes disciplinary motion towards a worker for making a proper criticism about office harassment or discrimination. U.S. employees are legally protected when submitting such harassment complaints, making it unlawful for an employer to hunt retribution towards them.

Tennessee takes the highest spot for office discrimination charges, the report reveals. The Volunteer State had price of 79 fees per 100,000 individuals. It is adopted carefully by Arkansas, which confirmed a discrimination price of 77 fees per 100,000 individuals.
