San Antonio ISD receives federal funding for electrical faculty buses | San Antonio

San Antonio ISD is one in all 18 Texas faculty districts to obtain funding from the Environmental Safety Company for electric-powered buses.

Some San Antonio Impartial Faculty District college students shall be quickly be on a cleaner path to and from campus.

The Environmental Safety Company on Monday revealed that it is awarded SAISD $5.925 million to buy 15 electrical faculty buses. The grant is a part of the federal company’s Clear Faculty Bus Program, which has allotted almost $2 billion for public faculties to buy environmentally pleasant buses since 2022.

“Electrical faculty buses defend college students’ well being, scale back emissions which are fueling the local weather disaster and profit faculty districts by saving cash in gas and upkeep prices,” Luke Metzger, govt director of advocacy group Atmosphere Texas, stated in an emailed  assertion.

Metzger continued: “This new spherical of federal funding is an opportunity for college districts to higher serve their college students and their communities — and to turn out to be extra environmentally sustainable. The variety of grant functions for this program exhibits us that faculties are able to go electrical — they simply want the assets to get there.”

A complete of 18 Texas districts, together with Fort Price ISD and Austin ISD, will obtain EPA funding this yearto buy a mixed 165 electrical buses.
