The Witte’s new CEO will launch Texas Museums 360, an inquiry-based science curriculum for Texas Colleges.

The Witte Museum has named Dirk Elmendorf, a former board chairman for the museum and a founding father of Rackspace Expertise, as its new president and CEO.

Elmendorf will take over for outgoing President and CEO Marise McDermott, who introduced her departure after 20 years main the Witte, in response to museum officers. Her final day within the function is Jan. 1.

“The mission of the Witte to form the way forward for Texas is a calling for me,” Elmendorf mentioned in a press assertion. “I’m honored to steer the Witte and construct on the legacy of Marise McDermott, who has been an unimaginable mentor to me.”

Elmendorf joined the Witte’s Board of Trustees in November 2012. He was later named chairman and led the museum by way of the COVID-19 pandemic. He plans to make use of his expertise within the tech sector to steer the ability into the digital age, which is able to embody the launch of Texas Museums 360, a brand new inquiry-based science curriculum for Texas faculties.
